About me
This is edited from time to time.
I was born in the 70’s. On the other side of the globe. My parents were caught in the middle of the “One Child Per Family” implementation when my mom was pregnant with me, their second child. I kid you not, they came and asked tried to force my mom to abort, at FIVE months gestation. My parents went into hiding until I was born. I was an illegal baby who then became legal before I turned 3, but not before my parents paid some hefty penalties. I owe them eternally.
My family moved to the US to reunite with my grandparents when I was 12. I didn’t speak a single word of English and had to start learning with ABC’s. Did I mention my new school didn’t have anyone who spoke my native language? Yea, very fun when you’re 12. Kids that age are cruel to anyone who’s different than them in the slightest.
Still, I’ve lead a pretty good life so far, if you don’t count the 1 yr where I went to cancer hell and back as a newlywed, at age 24. It was several years ago and I have scars to prove it. I also have the port-a-cath as a “souvenir” from Cancer Hell. There’s still a chunk of the damned thing inside my chest but that’s just scar tissues too.
I started this blog after I had a miscarriage. I wanted to find peace and strength and sunshine again (and I have!)
OK some lighter stuff.
I used to love driving really fast. I still love it but don’t drive too fast now. I used to love talking on the phone for HOURS (don’t ask what the longest call was). I like to cook, I LOVE to eat. I like going to national parks, but I equally like going to shopping malls. I could go on and on and on. Someday I would like to learn how to quilt. I really do. Quilts are fascinating to me but I don’t own any, yet.
I’m married. We have two kids (post cancer!). They are the two most intelligent and beautiful children on earth, and I’m not biased at all. My husband and I have arguments just like most couples do, and my kids throw tantrums just like most kids their age do. We have our share of weird / funny / dysfunctional family stories in our immediate and extended families. Our life is not perfect, in fact, far from it, but it is perfect for us.
We launched our business, KangarooBoo.com in October. We offer lots and lots of awesome, unique, handmade, handcrafted toys and products. Browse around and I’m sure you will find something for the beloved little ones in your life. As a cancer survivor and a parent to 2 kids, I’m committed to making a difference in the lives of children. We, KangarooBoo.com, donate a percentage of ALL SALES to children related charities. Please check it out and let all your friends, families and colleagues know! Make your purchases meaningful. Mark our store as one of your favorites to shop at

Now some FAQ. Everyone has a FAQ page. I don’t want to feel left out.
FAQ
Is your name Sue?
No. My name is Jennic. It’s pronounced Jen-nic, some friends have pronounced it “Jean-nique” like a French name which sounds very cool. It’s spelled with a “c” at the end which confuses a lot of people. More often than I’d like, some will automatically assume it is Jennie and correct it for me on forms and so on, while others will assume it’s Jennifer or Jennick or Jennica or other what-have-yous.
Where does the name “Jennic” originate from? I’ve never heard of it before.
I made up my name a long time ago, and now it is on all of my official documents. I’m not making that up.
Are you in any way related to www.jennic.com?
Unfortunately no. I wish I had registered that domain before they did!
So what is “sweetisu”? And what does it mean?
I attended university at ISU. My time there was bitter and sweet, but mostly sweet.
Any other questions? Comment here or email me and I will try to answer as best as I can.

Hello Jennic,
I found your blog and your store through Karen Cheng’s blog. Just wanted to tell you that your life story and the new business you and your husband started are very inspiring. I also imigrated from China (Guangzhou) when I was around your age but I grew up in NYC which is much more diverse. But I can relate to your experiences of your early years in the U.S.
Keep up the good work!
Betty

Thanks for visiting Small Reflections and leaving the link so I could find you here and get acquainted. I love your FAQs and About Me page. Until recently one had to search both of my blogs for snippets of info about me because it never occurred to me to create such a page when I started blogging. Now my sidebar contains links to a variety of info about me … more than anyone probably wants to know even. LOL
I look forward to returning to read more here when time permits, but I love love love the little giraffe in the box at the top of your sidebar!
Best of luck to you in all things.
Hugs and blessings,

I found your website from you commenting on mine. I think Kangaroo Boo is great, I always recommend it to mothers I know who shop on the net. I was reading your blog and I think you are an inspiration to women all over the world. Overcoming, surviving and striving.
