i was listening to a CBC Radio (our version of NPR) discussion about this one day, and whether it is too "Big Brother" to increase the ban on smoking. the proposals were in vehicles, as Christine above mentioned, on public sidewalks, in parks... it was pretty widespread.

the turning point was when someone pointed out that decades ago, ppl were concerned about Big Brother's role with making seatbelts mandatory. and yet, it has become a mandatory thing no that no one thinks twice about. in Canada, at least, they are aiming for a similar outcome with smoking in public! imagine that :)

"I don't want my car to smell." Uh, HELLO! I dope slapped him and called him a naughty name. Grrrr.... litter-er's.

All my inlaws smoke. It is so disgusting. I hate it. My MIL is coming to stay for a while. She smokes on the porch, but she smells like a bar when she comes back in so it's not much relief. I hate when she tries to hug my kids. Ick.

The streets of London are littered with cigarette butts. I often see smokers throw butts on the ground when there is a bin right in front of them. It's like they don't see it as rubbish. Would they throw other rubbish on the ground as readily as they do butts! I don't think so... (*grin* sorry for the rant. It's something that annoys me too :D)
