Cannot resist

Mom says when I was a baby, I was a very good sleeper. She would have to wake me up to feed me (why couldn’t I have gotten one of those babies???). Fortunately I was a chubby one so no one was really worried about me sleeping 90% of the day away. I was a whopping 8.3 lb baby when I was born. I think that’s pretty big for a Chinese.

From junior high and up, I slept in whenever allowed. Especially in college. A few times I’d stay up until the wee hours and wake up only find the dining halls have been closed for lunch. After that, I’d get a sack lunch the night before so I could sleep in and still have food. :-) Clever girl.

We all know what happens to sleep when you have a baby. After the 2nd baby, you can pretty much take sleep out of the dictionary, because it’s not going to happen.

For the last several months, I’ve only managed to go to bed before midnight a handful of times, only to wake up again before the sun rises when the two little ones wake at 5:30~6:00a.m.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I came across this gem.

I can’t help but share it with all of my night owl friends, sleepy-eyed bloggers who stay up so you can read just one more blog, and tired mommies who sit there without nary a thought in mind after putting the kids to bed and thankful for a few quiet hours before tending to the fun, loving but demanding children at the crack of dawn. Hope you have a good night sleep tonight! :D

Night owl? Could sleep for 10 hours if left to my own devices?

    That would be me too!

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

I can so relate to this post. I love to sleep! And I’m good at it. On more than one occasion, I drove for an hour, dropped my dad off at the worksite, drove back home again, then would fall back into bed and sleep for another hour or so. Yes, really, I do love my sleep.

Believe it or not, the sleeping thing weighed pretty heavily into the kid-consideration thing. Though to be honest, there were bigger reasons we chose to skip the kids. But lucky for me, both the cat and the dog love to nap!

I do love to sleep, but that’s going to bed around 1 am and ideally waking up at 9 or so.

The baby went to bed tonight at 6:30 pm! I wonder what time he’ll wake up :(

I can’t relate to that yet, sleepless nights for the benefit of children.

My sleepless nights are by choice only. Doesn’t make it sound interesting one bit, does it?

    Sleep tight, Jennic!

That is hilarious! I’m up every night until way too late. Of course, I don’t actually ever sleep in. But in just 18 short years I will be able to! Woot!

    I remember sleep….sigh….

My hormones are starting to go nuts, so now sleep is kind sporadic. I miss it so.

I’d have 12 kids if I gave birth to people who slept through the night before the age of 2. My sister’s kids all sleep through at 3 months. I pretend that I’m the better mother for it but suspect that in the end I am merely the more exhaisted mother.

As a child I never had to be told to go to bed. I loved my sleep. When I had my children that was the end of sleep. Even when they were teens they kept me awake. They would talk on the phone till the wee hours of the morning or I would stay awake until the last one was in the door. Now that they are grown and gone…I suffer insomnia…also know as old lady disorder. Go figure! Now that there is nothing to impede my sleep…I can’t sleep! Yeash! My heart goes out to you.

I figured out long ago that twelve hours is what it took for me to feel completely rested. It’s a huge cosmic joke that now I get about four.

    Thanks for sharing!
