Lost in the dust
I consider myself pretty net-savvy and somewhat advanced technologically. I participated in online socializing before it was popular; I blogged before it was called blogging; I knew how to write (simple) webpages before every Tom, Dick, and Sally in college had one. Heck, my husband and I met via the internet (the snowstorm helped too) 10 years ago. TEN years. Gah I’m getting old.
However, when it comes to these trendy electronic gadgets (is there such a thing as non-trendy gadgets?), I’m lost. Completely, hopelessly, totally lost.
I’ve never owned an ipod or mp3 player. And what is this thing you call an iphone?
This wii thing? I’m embarrassed to say, the last real game console I played with had a game called Super Mario. I don’t even know what it was called. Nintendo, probably the first generation..
Everyone and their mother has a cell phone that has a camera, and check email with their phone, and blog with their phone. They SMS their friends, listen to music, track their stocks and twitter and whatever other uber high tech stuff that this little tiny sleek device can do. My cell phone? I can call people, and oooh I can do 3-way calling (but I haven’t needed it and have never tried it). There’s a couple of games on it, as well as a dozen or so ring tones.
Just don’t call me granny OK?

Oh..a kindred spirit! I thought I was the only one left in the world that just doesn’t “get” these things. Even my mom is more of a techie than I am.

MY phone calls people too. I turned off text messaging because… people keep texting me! I’m like… can’t you just CALL me, its easier. Sheesh.
I got an mp3 player for Christmas last year and all I know how to do with it is play the radio.
I think video games are for losers.

I went from a nothing phone to an iphone and all it is is a great big time and money suck. Also, AT&T? Not so great in my area- one dropped call after another. The commercials make me want to throw a brick at the tv. You are not missing anything. Stay simple!

I’ll only call you a granny if you call me one.
I was a first generation computer nerd. Now I have a cell phone that only receives calls and text messages.

Call me granny too:-) My husband and I were talking about this last night. He was the same way, had e-mail before any of his friends, created webpages when that was the “new” thing. When we dated in college we kept in touch via the internet. He graduated with Telecommunications degree and is a Video producer……but do we have much of that stuff…nope. We have phones that take pictures (pretty much the only thing I actually use the phone for) but that is about as high tech as we get. Right now since we are in year 2 of selling our house, with a toddler and another one on the way, plus gas expenses (the whole reason we NEED to move)….we are on a “needs” only budget. I have used my SIL Iphone and yes it was cool, but do I NEED one? Heck no! With our tax refund we are considering replacing our home computer…..because its 8 YEARS OLD, and that will be our big technological advance for the year;-)

Yeah, but at least you know the internets stuff. I’m lost there, too!
My mom is the worst. No cordless phones, no answering machine, no cell phone, no remote control for TV, no VCR or DVD….
She reads dictionaries for fun. Really.

I have a cell phone - and I wish I still had the original one I got in 2000. Lesson? don’t throw your cell phone if you never want to replace it.

You can call me granny…lol…cause I am one! I am starting to become a technical granny. In the last year I got a blog…learned to E-mail…got an ipod (which is easy and I love it)…got itunes…learned to rip my CDs (so I can put music on the ipod…got a digital camera…can post pictures…can now program the coffee maker. All new advances have not worked out though. I wasted 40.00 on a transponder so I could play my ipod over my car radio (it doesn’t work and I am defeated here) I refuse to go any further…no to tex message! And no to the Wii. If I want to go bowling…I will go bowling. LOL

I’m not a techie…Though I married into a family FULL of techies! We just got an HGTV, and let me tell you, I was SO lost when they were talking about HDI, HDP, HDC, HD-insert any letter here because it makes no difference to me and apparently all cords are HD-some letter…
I feel your pain.
