5,000 boxes but who’s counting

I have so much to write about and yet the words are just swimming in my head instead. I want to write about all the things that I learned from house-selling. I want to write about the two-weeks that we stayed at 2 different friend’s houses, 2 different hotels, and the thousands of miles we drove in those 2 weeks between our old city and our new city. I want to write (I mean, complain) about the 5-hours it took for me to scrub out the fridge in our new house. I would like to write about how the kids rolled down the tiny hill and frolicked in the new backyard, or how they kept going into the washers and dryers at the home improvement stores when we went to compare prices on appliances that the previous owners took with them. I also think it is time to disclose a big pet peeve of mine — I must have the toilet paper over, not under. But alas, the words are just swimmin’ around.

There are about 5,000 boxes left to open and put away and not enough time in the day / week / month to do so.

There are 8 million and three things to do before our business, KangarooBoo, will be ready.

But! Enough about me. How have YOU been?!

A teaser on what’s to come in the near future

We are setting up a business! A REAL business! It will carry products that kids newborns to age 15 (approx) will LOVE to play with and provide HOURS and HOURS of fun. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, families and friends will also LOVE to get their hands on these gizmos (toys, NO batteries!) for their beloved little ones.

If you have a suggestion for the store name, we would love to hear it. If we end up picking yours, a COOL gift will be sent your way.

Happy Sunday

Happy Mother’s Day to all the women in this world, whether you’re a biological mom, adoptive mom, birth mom, aunt, cousin, sister, friend, want-to-be-a-mom-someday, celebrate today and everyday.

Women hold up half the sky.
–Mao ZeDong

Lots of love,
J.

Last week there was a thingamajig at Seb’s preschool for moms. They invited all the moms / grandma / aunt / female adult in the child’s life to come to school for Mother’s Tea. The theme was Hawaiian. All the kids presented a lei to the moms and they were all instructed to give mom a kiss on the cheek. It was lovely. We socialized with our child, other moms and their children, and had root beer / strawberry floats. We did hand painting with our children, played and read stories. At the end, we were presented with a poem that our children wrote (filled in the blanks), with a “picture” that the child drew of mom. Here’s what Seb’s poem says:

My Mom

(a green marker drawing of 2 faces. a small one and a bigger one. both with big eyes, short hair, and a big smiley)

She is 6 years old.
She likes to eat vegetables.
Her favorite color is green.
Her job is drop me off & do the dishes.
My favorite thing to do with my mom is go to Costco.

Although sometimes I do act like a 6 yr old, I do know I’m much more than vegetables and doing dishes and going to Costco and dropping him off at school to him. It is exhausting to be a mom doing all of that, but it is what I chose to do and I love doing it. I am grateful for all the moments that I get to be a part of and see and remember. I love you son. I’m so thankful that I get to be your mom.

My name

These last few days has been absolutely crazy!! There’s an understatement if I ever heard one. While going through drawers and boxes of stuff, I found a gift that someone made for me several years ago.

It has my first name on it. And it says:

Origin: unique
“lovable, beautiful”

On the back of it there’s a poem.

has a strong hunger for life
draws affection from others
her sincerity and honesty are praised
begins new projects with her eyes open
her monument will be achievement
her goodness goes without saying
a woman who merits approval
rises bright and early

I just have to laugh at the last line. Bright and early?!!!

Only because I share the roof with 2 tiny people who are super duper early risers.
