I am so with you on the DS, DD, and DH thing. Like in real life (or IRL ha) people don't say...."well my Dear Husband took out the trash last night."
It reminds me of some 50's TV show where the dad went to work and came home to a happy perfect family. Sometimes THEY AREN'T DEAR!
We really need to start a club for those of us opposed to the accronyms, I didn't know there were others:-)

THANK YOU! Using DS, DH etc. is totally my pet hate in t'Internet. The same as you, I just don't see the point. I think the have just become a part of this internet forum jargon or insider slang.

When you first start reading the forums, you develop a certain type of (false) respect towards the people who so flowingly drop the abbreviations in their text. They seem to be in friendly terms with other people on the forums and enjoy some sort of pleasant status, and you want to get there too. Hmm, maybe if I just drop in a couple of DS's and IMHO's... BS! :)
