I’m still here and breathing.

Well hello. Long time no see. Where do I begin?

We’re home after having gone for almost 3 weeks. We got home late Saturday evening. It’s good to be home. It’s true, nothing beats home sweet home. Especially more so when you have to lug 2 toddlers and their 300 trillion belongings around the country for extended periods of time.

Our son Seb started preschool on Monday. He loves it so far. I love it, too. The school has a drive-thru drop-off and pick-up. Is that awesome or what! It will be so so so helpful when winter comes, when it will be impossible to haul two heavily dressed kids in and out of the van in the slush / freezing cold / 2-feet of snow. You did know we live in Minnesota, one of the coldest cities in the US, right?

Oh yes. You want to know about the vacation. It was really good, and really bad.

We had great times visiting places, seeing relatives and friends. We met the wonderful Jennifer and her lovely family for the first time. It was as if we had known each other for ages. I hope we will be able to get together more often after our move. Go visit her blog. She’s funny and poignant and articulate. Did I mention she’s a very good writer?

We ate very good seafood and had fruits and foods that we haven’t had in decades. I ate about four pounds of longan by myself. It was soooo good and fresh and cheap! And bubble tea.

Then.. there’s the bad. The very very bad. Two days into the trip, Fiona bit me while nursing. REALLY hard. It left a hole in my nipple, a big gash the size of 3/4 of a rice grain that was equally deep. The I-had-to-go-to-urgent-care type of biting. A HOLE. On .My. Nipple. The thing is, I can’t even remember where we were sitting when the biting occured because it didn’t hurt for a couple of days until the infection took hold. Then it became excruciatingly painful and all I could think about was the hole in my nipple. Three weeks after the fact, there is still a hole the size of a penmark. Sigh.

Well, it’s good to be home again. Everything is back to normal. Almost.

Isn’t that crazy!! No one at my OB or the urgent care can believe how deep the wound was. OMG. And everyone suggested that I wean right at this minute. What’s worse being bitten, is being bitten while ON vacation. :P
I don’t know what came over her. Must be the 5 teeth popping up over a short 7-week span. She has never bit so hard before, and praying she will never again. It is all healed up now. Thank goodness.
