Side by Side, or Tandem* Stroller?
Within the next few months, I will need to purchase a double stroller. If you’ve had experiences with them, please do share your wisdom! Thanks in advance.
If Baby Girl arrives around the due date, the kids will be about 24 months apart. Baby Boy is quite loving and generous, but I have no way of knowing how he will react to having to share everything including Mama and Baba with his little sister. He might get jealous and hit her, like some horror stories I’ve heard. Or he might fall in love with her immediately and protect her like a real big brother would / should.
So my questions. Do you think a Side by Side double stroller is better to have than a Tandem* one? If you have one of the types, why do you like it / dislike it? Do you have any suggestions on brands?
My only concern (and it’s probably not very realistic) for a Side by Side is that, it will too wide to maneuver through narrow isles and so on. Other than that, I really have no opinion / experience with either thus far.
Thanks so much for your suggestions / advice!
* I’m not entirely sure of the correct name for that style. It’s the type where one seat is in front of the other, in a linear fashion.

I can only offer 3rd hand advice, but my SIL has a boy 30 months when her newborn was born. They use a side-by-side stroller and haven’t had too much trouble other than him lifting her blankets off to look at her.
Anyways, wishing you lots of luck with it. Hopefully he’ll fall head over hells for his wee sister.
Best wishes!

I’ve never used a double stroller but my friends who have preferred the in-line doubke stroller because it was easier to maneuver than the side by side version.

I have both double stollers. I can barely push the tandem one (its a bit easier when the babys are small, but pushing two toddlers is hard), and I have a very hard time getting it in and out of the van. I have a much easier time with the side by side double, the only problem is the width so its hard to go into certain stores in the mall.

Hi, I’m not a mom yet and don’t have any of the mandatory equipment, so I can only offer an observer’s view.
When I go out shopping with my friends, the side-by-side strollers cause problems. They don’t fit down a lot of the aisles and people get kind of pissy when they see you coming toward them and they either need to move or back up or whatever. I know, I know, that’s their problem, not yours. But still…
Sounds like there are pros and cons to each from reading the cool comments above. Let us know what you pick and how it works out.
