Nothing Really Interesting Except For My Belly

I apologize for not being very interesting lately, and for not visiting / commenting on your blogs as often as I’d like. It’s just that things aren’t really interesting right now, except for a lot of busy projects in and around the house (nesting?) which you probably don’t care to read or know the details. It’s just boring stuff, really.

Internal kungfu tournament continues with increasing force and frequency. She might just well qualify for a black belt right after birth. I’m feeling a lot more kicks this time around. It might have something to do with the fact that with our son, the placenta was anterior, right smack in the middle of the belly. But I don’t really know for sure, as you can still feel a lot even with anterior placenta, I’ve been told.

My belly is HUGE, and I still have 11 more weeks until the due date. I’m dreading possible stretch marks (in addition to the dark vertical line thing I already have).

I’ve decided to take the plunge and finally took some belly pictures at 29 weeks (this past weekend). Here’s a few naked visuals for your viewing pleasure. And for added fun, I’m also including a couple from my first pregnancy from around the same gestational time frame (clothed bellies).

First pregnancy. 28w2d. I used to have somewhat of a butt.

Current pregnancy. 28w6d.

If you feel so inclined to rub my belly, DON’T.

The Last Leg

Third trimester starts officially now.

Wow. Yikes. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Please excuse me while I hyperventilate.
——————

Okay. Thanks.

I have yet another prescription (another category C drug!!!) for the yeast infection. I KNEW it was still around even when the doc said he couldn’t find anything for the longest time. And it was, and confirmed by the scraping a week ago. There were some insurance problems, and I have just started this new medicine today. I’m not holding my breath about this, but we’ll see how it goes. I’m guessing my hormones is way different this pregnancy than when with our son, and I may very well have to suffer YI until I give birth. Sigh.

My pelvic bone. My pelvic cartilage. You know, the area immediately below the uhhhhhh cameltoe. Can I say OUCH??? It hurts whenever I shift positions and whenever my mid section is moved (which is, constantly, during the day, and a lot during the night as well). I have a physical therapy appointment set up for next week to see if they can help. Again, not holding my breath about this as well. Oh yea, and my lower back. I can’t not mention the lower back aches.

Last of my complaints (for today), promise. I’ve been wishing summer to arrive for a long while. And now that it is here, I am not so sure I like it so much anymore. Well, I do enjoy the warmer temperature as I’m one of those weird ones who gets cold easily no matter what, even during pregnancy. However I am pretty much confined to the indoors as A) we do not have a deck / screened seasonal room B) the mosquitoes have been multiplied a bazillion times last week and they are relentless as it’s still raining a lot C) both our son and I are super allergic to mosquitoes. So booooohooooo.

What’s In A Name

You can find the top 10 popular baby names in a few countries listed here, while this is the top 100 baby names in the US in 2004.

Choices. Decisions. So many to choose from!

I asked you lovely people’s opinion not long ago on some names. Again, thanks so much for your participation! Hubby and I still have not agreed upon a nambe yet though. But we’ve narrowed it down to Amelia or Fiona for the first name. It seems the favorite is overwhelmingly “Amelia” among the commenters — which is very interesting because “Amelia” is the only one out of my 4 original choices that is listed in the top 100 popular baby names in the USA (ranking in at #76).

Does one “grow” into their name, as in, is there a set of personal / personality characteristics that is generally associated with a specific name? And is it true that you can just look at a baby and say “Yup, definitely a Zoe (or whichever name) and not a Chloe (insert another name)”? What’s in a name besides it is something that you will be called for the rest of your life?

Do you like your given name? If not, what would you have liked to be named instead? And why?

Faking It

On Monday I had the pleasure of taking my glucose test. Monday also marked 27 weeks, one week shy of beginning the Third Trimester. Very hard to believe. And I still have not broken down to take a belly picture yet which is also hard to believe, considering how many I took when I was pregnant with our son. But I’m strangely scared of it this time around. As if flashing something at and taking a few pictures of my ever growing belly will somehow throw something off, jinxing myself. I’m hoping to get over this fear soon, as I know I would regret it later if I don’t.

So I had a 93 on the glucose test (anything under 140 is good)! Yippy!!!

I asked the technician why must I, weighing a mere 118 pounds at this point, drink the WHOLE damn jar of orange-ickyness, when someone 1.5x, 2x, or even 3x times my weight ALSO drinks the same amount of yuck. She said it’s “standardized”. . . Shouldn’t this sort of thing be based on body mass, since we are trying to calculate how fast my body produces insulin and at what rate it is digesting the sugar (that’s what the test is for, yah?) You must know that I failed the one-hour test with our son (got 146 and needed it to be below 140. GAH) and had to do the three-hour test which was tortuous, and how I always gag / vomit when something weird gets ingested such as this nasty orange crap or the month-old-sour-milk-like CT contrasts when I have my regular oncology checkups. Does anyone know why both of these nasty drinks are not based on body mass??? After all, we don’t fit into a one-size-fits-all-mold damn it. We’re individuals with a variety of shapes, sizes, height, etc.

But I’m happy that I passed the glucose test this time around.

Not sure if it’s pure coincidence, but I drank a gigantic bottle of water during the one-hour waiting period to dilute stuff (which I did not do with my first pregnancy and subsequently failed the test). I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on TV, but my actions may have messed up the nature of this test. Did I?? I desperately do not wish to take the 3-hour test and am willing to fake it if I must.

Is it really bad to fake something like this? Could this come back and bite me in the ass?

Digging Your Own Hole

Thanks to all who gave their input on the previous post! Choosing a name is a very personal decision and I value your personal opinion on that. Hopefully hubby and I will come to an agreement and we will let you know as soon as we decide. And hopefully before the birth of our baby girl.

Other things . . . It’s only the 5th day of the month, and I’ve already spent a fortune. We (I mean *I*) wanted to upgrade to a king size bed. And the toddler boy also needs a more comfortable bed. So we now (will) have 2 new beds, new king size bed frame, bed sheets, comforters, pillows, etc. etc.

Somehow since I’m not the one earning the money now, I don’t feel as much need to save. It’s as if I’ve forgotten how hard it is to earn every red cent. Is there such a phenomena among others as well? There must be, because I just splurged on a pair of diamond chandelier earrings, too! Although this is the first time I’ve gotten any jewelry since our wedding almost 5 years ago, considering my frugal nature, this is still a huge deal. But my, those earrings are so pretty!!!

Oh, we’re not done with the credit card yet. Hubby’s birthday is in another week or so (men are so hard to shop for!) And there’s Father’s Day coming up quickly. Then there’s the baby girl stuff such as another drawer set / dresser and a double stroller, and oh don’t forget the cute girl outfits that we need (should) get very soon, since we only have all-boy outfits right now. While we’re at it, why don’t we make a new deck for the house this summer! And you know what that means — deck furniture, mosquito repellant torch thingies, a grill . . .

Yea. That should put us in a nice and big hole for a long while.
