DH and I met at a 1999 New Year's Eve/Armageddon party. I had been planning not to attend because I knew my grad school friend was trying to mix me with her husband's unmarried male friends. My dating history had been so bad that I decided to take some time off from that pursuit entirely. The thought of trying to pull off beguiling and charming was just too much.

So, I went, crabbed about stuff, ate a lot, and got tipsy. For some reason, DH and I caught each other's eye. We were both intrigued. He called me the following week and then we corresponded via e-mail, and the rest is history. Ironically, the next month we both lost our grandmother's (who played very strong roles in our lives) to congestive heart failure. That, along with all the other coincidences between us, cemented things.

But really, I still think the reason he liked me was because he saw how many pin-wheel appetizers I could put away in one night.

It's amazing how many couples meet through the internet these days. Hey it's better than the bar right? I think so -- at least there's no cigarret smells and dark lightings and you have more control. Again, bow to the internet!

Even though we saw each other daily for 7 consecutive months, my husband still claims we never really went on a "date". Instead, we "just hung out together." One of these days, we should go on a real DATE.

This is a beautiful story; I met my husband on the internet as well and I'm so grateful that I know what it feels like to be married to my best friend!

aawww, a sweet story indeed, ...you're getting me hooked on your blog :)

how strange, that an irksome snowstorm could bring such a fair change to your life :)

sometimes bad things are good after all. In your case - a great thing.

Oh! I just loved this post. It was so sweet.

I feel much the same about my chance meeting with Westley.

Loved the Trekkie reference (I'm a huge fan, geek that I am!)
